There’s a sense of urgent expectation right from the beginning of Serbia’s song this year.
The tension is held throughout the bridge, but come the chorus the rhythm track and underlying bass line make for a dated sound.
Hearing the bridge after the second verse interrupts the flow created by the previous chorus meaning the song never really feels like it gets underway.
The middle-eight hints at the song wanting to take on a different, perhaps a Middle Eastern style, something that’s stylistically at odds with that established right at the beginning of the track.
It’s fine. It’s just a little mixed up. The live vocals are going to be rough. Very rough. You have been warned.
