Eurovision 2017: [Azerbaijan] Dihaj / Skeletons

I’m fairly certain (though could be wrong) that whatever is done to present this on stage will detract from what is quite a good track.

It’s 80s feel is reminiscent of the signature tune from Amazon Prime’s brilliant Halt and Catch Fire.

Come the chorus, the song’s industrial melodrama makes for a balanced number, satisfying but verging on the tired.

Where Belgium’s song this year oozes sophistication, Azerbaijan’s though good, lacks sophistication. The middle eight is by far the best part of the song.

I’m not entirely convinced this will secure a place in the final. The stage presentation has impact but those live vocals are going to be her undoing.
