Man Booker Prize Shortlist 2016

It wasn’t until the Man Booker Prize 2016 Shortlist was announced yesterday morning that I realised I missed off Paul Beatty’s The Sellout from my longlist sample review. Embarrassing.
Of the remaining five shortlisted books, I managed to pick out four – His Bloody Project, Hot Milk, Eileen, and Do Not Say We Have Nothing. I didn’t predict was All That Man Is.

It’s been interesting to revisit some of the titles. I’d assumed I’d find it easy to recall each premise when I saw the shortlist. My assumption was that each sample would be distinctive enough for me to recall each story. Hystopia was one of the exceptions, so too My Name Is Lucy Barton Schooldays. The rest I struggled to remember,

Now for the toughest challenge. Six books to read before the Man Booker winner is announced – that’s six books in six weeks. Quite some ask. The last time I was presented with that kind of reading list was my first term at university. I ended up ditching English for History at the beginning of the second term.
