Mahogany Opera has put a call out for proposals from performance artists and creatives from the world of music theatre, opera, theatre, dance, performance artists for their Various Stages Festival which returns in early 2017.
Various Stages blurs the line between process and performance, allowing artists to share their work process with audiences and stakeholders. The programme encourages creative exchange, demystifies the art form and ensures that each work has public context and relevance.
The annual research and development programme which tests new ideas for opera and music theatre, giving selected artists the opportunity to put their creative projects through a range of open and closed workshops, sharings and public work-in-progress showings, with close support. An opportunity for creative individuals to receive support as their ideas are developed.
Mahogany are looking for innovative ideas from which selected projects will be workshopped with a range of different artists in January next year. The two-day Various Stages Festival in February 2017 will showcases the ideas, and feature critical feedback sessions as well as networking opportunities with national and international venues, promoters, artists and producers. Some events are open to the public.
Proposals should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by 12pm on 29 July 2016. Successful projects will be announced in September 2016. For more information visit the Mahogany Opera blog.
