Katie Derham’s quickstep was, according to judge Len Goodman, her “best dance of the competition”. The Derham certainly looked like she enjoyed the routine which at times harked back to the classic Morecambe and Wise routine with Angela Rippon (the dancing, not the comedy).
Katie and Anton’s 35 points were richly deserved and warmly appreciated. So too, the moment when Tess Daley announced the pair were safe for another week. The enthusiasm for the couple is rather pleasing in itself.
This was a spectacular show from the Blackpool Tower Ballroom marred only slightly by the conclusion that there will be no more Tristan in the competition. In the dance-off him and Jamelia failed to convince all the judges (except for Len) meaning Peter Andre and Janette Manrara remained.
