Every Strictly contestant is on a journey, but I didn’t expect that journey, in the case of Katie Derham, to be such a rollercoaster.
Last week Katie was top of the leaderboard, this week she was perilously close to the bottom. Personally, I didn’t think her salsa deserved the harsh criticism it received, or the paltry 21 points the judges awarded it. Her and Anton’s performance was more convincing than say Jeremy Vine’s waltz, and I’m unconvinced that Carol Kirkwood is enjoying the process: she’s looking stressed a lot of the time, where as Katie in comparison has her game face on nearly all of the time. I want to see hunger, not fear.
The results show was nailbiting: Katie and Anton were the last couple to be saved. It all felt very touch and go. But, Katie survives for another week.
