Made it to Southwold after a 45 minute delay outside the Blackwall Tunnel and a three hour drive up the A12. I noticeably relaxed when we passed the signs for Aldeburgh. This area of the country feels like home. I adore it here.
Arrived to find Mum and Dad here already. Hastily unpacked car and set everything up whilst the lasagne heated up in the oven. Mild whiff of bleach about the place. Mum read the varied comments left in the Visitors Book – one particularly critical of the grouting in the shower saying, “sorry if this seems critical, but if I was the owner, I’d want to know.” Half of the lasagne was devoured. Salmon parcels – little pillows of joy.
